CPR Training for Daycares & Childcare Centers in Temecula and Murrieta

If you run a daycare, in-home childcare, or early childhood education center in Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, or anywhere in San Diego County — you already know that keeping your staff certified in CPR and first aid is not optional. It is a California licensing requirement. And when you are responsible for the safety of other people's children, it is also just the right thing to do.

I am David Onori, owner of Code Blue Safety Skills. I am a trained Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) and a CPR instructor based in Southern California. American Red Cross certification is standard; HSI certification is available only when a client specifically requests it. I come directly to your facility — no travel required for your staff, no scheduling headaches, no renting a training room.

What California Requires for Childcare Staff

Under California Health and Safety Code, licensed childcare facilities — including family daycares, center-based programs, and preschools — must maintain current CPR and first aid certification for staff members. Specifically:

  • At least one staff member on-site at all times must hold a current CPR and first aid certification
  • Certifications must be from an approved provider (American Red Cross certification is standard; HSI certification is available only when specifically requested. Confirm the required provider with your employer.)
  • Pediatric CPR — covering infants and children — must be included in the training

Many licensing inspections will ask to see your current certification cards. Letting them lapse is not just a compliance risk — it is a gap in your ability to respond when a child needs help.

Why On-Site Training Makes Sense for Childcare Centers

Sending your staff to an off-site class sounds simple until you try to coordinate it. You need coverage, transportation, and a class that fits everyone's schedule. For a small daycare with two or three staff members, that can feel impossible.

When I come to you, the training happens at your facility, on your schedule. I schedule sessions by appointment; evening classes and Saturday appointments after 2 p.m. are available, Sundays are closed, and Wednesdays are booked all day. Your team learns in the environment where they will actually use these skills — which research consistently shows improves retention.

Here is what a typical on-site session looks like for a childcare center:

  • Duration: 4–5 hours for First Aid, CPR/AED, Pediatric, and BLS courses; Stop the Bleed is a 2.5-hour classroom-only course
  • Group size: Each class session is capped at 12 participants; larger groups are split into multiple sessions
  • Equipment: I bring everything — mannequins, AED trainers, first aid supplies
  • Certification: American Red Cross certification is standard; HSI is available only when specifically requested
  • Pediatric focus: Infant CPR, child CPR, choking response for infants and children

What I Cover in Childcare CPR Training

Every session I teach for childcare providers includes:

Infant CPR

Infants require a different technique than adults — two-finger chest compressions, gentler rescue breaths, and a different approach to checking responsiveness. I walk your staff through each step hands-on until they are confident.

Child CPR (Ages 1–8)

Child CPR bridges the gap between infant and adult technique. Your staff will practice on age-appropriate mannequins so the muscle memory is right.

Choking Response — Infants and Children

Back blows and chest thrusts for infants. Abdominal thrusts for children. These are the moments that feel most panicked in real life, so we practice them until they feel automatic.

AED Awareness

Even if your facility does not have an AED on-site, your staff should know how to use one. I cover AED operation and explain how to locate the nearest public AED in your area.

First Aid Basics

Wound care, allergic reactions, seizure response, and when to call 911 versus handle it on-site.

Pediatric-Focused Training — Not a Generic Adult Class

This is the part that matters most for childcare providers. Many CPR classes focus on adult scenarios — a coworker collapsing in an office, a customer in a store. That is not your reality.

Your reality is a 14-month-old who put something in her mouth. A 3-year-old who had a seizure during snack time. A 6-year-old who fell off the play structure and is not responding normally.

I tailor every childcare training session to the scenarios your staff is most likely to face. We spend more time on infant and child technique, more time on choking, and more time on the judgment calls — when to start CPR, when to call 911, how to manage the situation while keeping the other children calm.

Group Pricing for Childcare Centers

Group pricing is available for groups of 5 or more participants; per-person rates depend on course and format.

I also offer discounts for:

  • Returning clients (annual recertification)
  • Multiple locations certified in the same month
  • Faith-based childcare programs

Serving Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Lake Elsinore & San Diego County

I serve childcare centers throughout the Inland Empire and San Diego County, including:

  • Temecula and Murrieta (including Old Town, Redhawk, Harveston, and surrounding neighborhoods)
  • Menifee and Lake Elsinore
  • Fallbrook, Escondido, and North San Diego County
  • San Diego city and surrounding communities

If you are not sure whether I cover your area, just reach out. I provide mobile training by appointment in my service area.

How to Book On-Site Childcare CPR Training

Booking is simple. Fill out the contact form with your facility name, approximate staff count, and preferred dates. I will follow up to confirm availability and send a quote.

Childcare centers should plan training ahead of their licensing and certification renewal deadlines. If you are not sure when that is, your licensing paperwork will have the date — or you can check with your Community Care Licensing (CCL) analyst.

A Note From Me

I started Code Blue Safety Skills because I believe everyone — not just healthcare workers — should know how to respond in an emergency. That belief is especially strong when it comes to the people who care for our youngest children every day.

Your staff shows up every day ready to nurture, teach, and protect. I want them to have the skills to help in an emergency.

If you are a childcare provider in my service area and need CPR and First Aid training for your team, contact me to request a class.
